Kuttybaev, Kurmash KarashevichKurmash Karashevich Kuttybaev was born Аugust 5, 1950 in the village of Chengeldy near Almaty, Kazakhstan. He graduated in 1980 from the Lvov State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts with a degree in ceramics, and having received his diploma with honors, he was immediately sent to Almaty to become a member of the Union of Artists and work at the Oner Art Combine.
His relief sculptures on the second floor of the Central State Museum were originally intended for the Hotel Kazakhstan, but following a change of plans were installed in 1983-1985. These are his lone extant works in Almaty; his mural “Energy” in the hall of the Kazakh SSR Ministry of Energy and Electrification, painted in 1981, has since been lost. Elsewhere in Kazakhstan, Kuttybaev made artworks in Arkalyk and Kulsary. |
