Zavizionniy, Gennadiy DmitrievichGennadiy Dmitrievich Zavizionniy was born April 20, 1938 in Urzhar in eastern Kazakhstan. In 1969, he graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts (popularly known as Stroganovka), having specialized in monumental art.
Zavizionniy frequently collaborated with his colleague Jan Nimets on bas-relief sculptures, and did two mosaics with the artist Aleksandr Simakov. He was the head of the team that decorated the Palace of Pioneers (now the Palace of Schoolchildren) in Almaty, where one could once find a relief, murals and a mosaic. After Kazakhstan’s independence, Zavizionniy and his wife Inessa (who was also an artist) moved to Europe, where they lived in the Czech Republic and Belarus. He died October 22, 2013 in Anapa, on the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar Krai in Russia. |
